On a fresh install of macOS Monterey (12.1) this happens
> mkcert -install CA created [nothing]
mkcert v1.4.3 Apple Silicon
Any idea what I can do to investigate what's going on?

Got it to work. Updated to macOS 12.2, after that I ran mkcert -install. It still stalled, but it seems like it installed successfully.
mkcert -install
